The bathroom remodel project
A bathroom remodel job can be one of the
messiest and most complicated and most expensive of all, but if it is done
correctly, it can add more value to your house and also make it a more
enjoyable place to live.
Before embarking on any bathroom remodel project, it is recommended that
you do as much reading, research, study, and consulting with experts as
possible, to familiarize yourself with the whole process and of the
different scenerios and problems that you will likely encounter along the
way.
One of the first considerations in starting to think about a bathroom
remodel project at your home is where you will find a spot in your house
to use while the bathroom is being redone. If you have an extra bathroom,
that might suffice, but keep in mind that during long periods the water to
your house will have to be turned off, and that this will inconvenience
you even if you do have other so called functioning bathrooms in the
house, because with the water turned off so that one room can be plumbed,
the rest of the house is essentially shut down from running water too, and
this can be a chronic problem and inconvenience while doing a long term
remodeling project in your bathroom.
And keep in mind that during your bathroom remodel, you will likely have
water, construction dust, mud, and other kinds of dirt and mess in the
house. It is a good idea to plan on this for the long haul, and to install
runners made of plastic drop cloth, throughout the house, for workers to
walk on when going back and forth, so that they don't track the mess
across your carpets or hardwood floors.
Be sure to price the cost of your bathroom remodel project ahead of time,
and then add on about 25 per cent more for unforseen costs, because every
construction job runs over budget and takes longer than anticipated. The
longer the job, the more likely that inflation will add to the cost of
materials, and so the faster you are able to finish a project, the better,
even if it means working extra hours to get it done.
