The curved shower curtain rod

For many people, the idea of any kind of a curtain rod besides a straight one might not make much practical sense, but many others understand the importance of curved shower curtain rod designs, because they have been in the predicament of not having one, and having to go to the extensive and problematic trouble of seaching high and low to find a rod that would work in their particular situation, for them to be able to take a shower without getting water all over the place.

The kind of situation that would require a curved shower curtain rod is for example when you have a free standing tub, that is not built into the walls next to or behind it, and for that kind of tub you have to be able to have a shower curtain to block the water that is normally stopped by the surrounding walls, that are usually made of tile, plastic, or some other surface that is water resistant. For normal showers, the water may hit those walls, but it then drains down into the bottom of the shower and runs into the drain, and does not create any unusual problem. But if you have a tub, for example, with a shower arrangement in it, then the water may be able to escape out of the back or sides where a straight curtain on a straight rod would not be able to prevent leaking water on the floor.

The curved shower curtain rod designs are usually in the shape of an oblong hoop or a "u" shape, and they are made to be mounted on the wall, from the ceiling, or in some cases, from the floor. If you are in the market for one, ask the sales people at your local bed and bath store, and they should be able to show you several examples of curved rods, in your price range.
